Prof. dr. Peter N. van Harten
He is professor of psychiatry at Maastricht University and also head of the research the institute at GGz Centraal, Amersfoort. He is also psychiatrist at a second opinion clinic for movement disorders in psychiatry.
From 2003 to 2014, he was editor-in-chief of the Journal of Psychiatry. From 1995 to 2010 he was director of residence training. He obtained his PhD in 1998 in Utrecht with a thesis on movement disorders in psychiatric patients.
He worked in Curaçao from 1990 to 1995 as a psychiatrist in Klinika Capriles. He is the author of many articles, in particular on the epidemiology and clinical aspects of movement disorders.
He gives workshops on ‘Movement disorders in psychiatry’ and other topics such as ‘Writing a scientific article’.
Drs. Lydia E. Pieters
Lydia Pieters is arts in opleiding tot psychiater bij GGz Centraal en promovendus bij Maastricht University. In 2017 heeft zij haar geneeskunde studie afgerond en eerst een jaar in de neurologie gewerkt alvorens binnen de psychiatrie te gaan werken. Ze is geïnteresseerd in het raakvlak tussen psychiatrie en neurologie en het doen van wetenschappelijk onderzoek op dit gebied.
Vanaf 2019 volgt zij een gecombineerd traject: assistent-geneeskundige in opleiding tot klinisch onderzoeker (AGIKO), waarbij zij de opleiding tot psychiater combineert met een promotieonderzoek. Haar promotieonderzoek heeft als onderwerp bewegingsstoornissen bij psychose. Prof. dr. Peter N. van Harten is haar promotor en dr. J. (Jeroen) Deenik haar co-promotor.
In het kader van haar promotieonderzoek heeft ze het PSYDAILY onderzoek opgezet: Novel Assessments for Monitoring PSYchosis in Daily Life. Hierbij worden elektronische meetmethodes, zoals smartphone apps en activity trackers, ingezet om bewegingsstoornissen, beweging en slaap bij patiënten met een psychose te meten. Zo kunnen de klachten van de patiënt nauwkeurig worden gemeten en kan de samenhang en voorspellende waarde van deze klachten op het ziektebeloop worden onderzocht.
Daarnaast draagt het PSYDAILY onderzoek bij aan de toepassing van geavanceerde diagnostische en therapeutische technologieën binnen de psychiatrie, ook wel ‘precision psychiatry’ genoemd. Hierdoor kan er geïntegreerde en gepersonaliseerde behandeling en preventie worden geboden, waarbij rekening wordt gehouden met variabiliteit in genen, omgeving en leefstijl.
